What's your view?
« on: October 24, 2011, 02:01:00 PM »
Waiting for action I decided to take some place shots of my hunting spot.  My stand's platform is 18 ft up in a multiple-trunk red maple.  In each of the first three shots the camera is pointed out 25 yards from 20 ft up.

Facing South

West

North

And the deer's view to the East.  I'm nested in a maple tree.  250 yards up the hill is my house.

This spot is 400 yards in from a field (horse pasture) to the North with a powerline and brushlot in between.  three old deer trails (one 20 yards to the North is a neighbor's logging road) intersect here in an asterisk pattern.  A few feral apple trees that occasionally sport scrapes (none yet this year).  100 yards to the west is a year-round creek and then a hillside of woods (hemlock, hickory, ash & maple).

Lets see some of your for a feel of what other hunting spots look like.

Here you go.  About 15 feet up and if you look real close you can see a little BB bedded about 45 yards away:

and here he is zoomed in:

I watched him for about 2 hours Sat. morning.

Nice pics.

But, two4hooking, dude you're gonna have to resize that big picture or you could risk getting banned!

I took this a couple of mornings ago; the deer have a very well worn trail near the cottonwoods; I am hunting 90 percent from the ground this season, and this is one of my good spots. I killed the deer on my avatar within 100 yards of this spot.

Pretty pics, especially that last one. So far this year, I don't have any good spots (hurricane Irene messed it all up) to take a pic of but if I get one later, I'll take a pic. They are supposed to do a controlled burn in the National forest this week and, if they get 'r done this time, that should help clean things up a lot.
