I aim to buy David's dog.
I understand several fellows here from Trad Gang have seen him work.
I would like to hear what you think of him

I think he's responsible for the death of this hog...
The recovery of this hog....
And the death of this Brute...
These are just the ones I can remember from this year...probably were more...
What *I* think is....Cowboy don't need to leave the ranch :D

Buff, sounds like you got the right idea. My grandaddy always use to say if you want a good dog or horse, find one that's NOT for sale and buy it. Good luck Don

I got a female pup out of Cowboy, she was not quite a year old last deer season. We put her on several deer blood trails and she did real well, even beat my older dog to one of the deer. I have had 5 Lacy's and she looks like she will be the best of any I have had. She has a really well balanced personality, really like her. Looks just like Cowboy.

Cowboy is a proven winner for sure. Can't go wrong with that dog. He is known far and wide for "saving the bacon" on the Solana Ranch.

I will say this If David, Robert, or Peanut say its a good dog it is a top notch dog. I have had more than one canversation with them about their hounds and have seen them work. I was more than impressed and I have seen dogs work my whole life.

I fail to see how this is a Traditional Archery topic.

It certainly doesn't belong in the "Shooters Forum", or the bow making, or knife making forums, but I think the recovery of our deer (or hogs) is an important part of traditional archery and has a place here too. We talk about trad clothing. Maybe that belongs in a style and fashion forum?
I thought the POW WOW forum was to discuss and chat about all the things connected with bow hunting that didn't belong in the more specific forums. Guess I'd be ripping my hair out if I was a moderator. Sure don't envy you guys the job you're doing.

What could be more "Traditional" than a hunting dog?

You are correct...its not Trad ARCHERY related....its Trad BOWHUNTING related...and Trad Bowhunting is what Trad Gang is about...
This is a blood trailing dog...owned by a guy that hunts with trad bows and being sold to a trad bowhunter...for tracking animals shot by a trad bow...
Therefore....it is trad bowhunting related.

Blue Lacy dog breeds were developed in Burnet County, Texas in the mid 1800's for rounding up the free roaming hogs to take to market. They are the State Dog of Texas.
In the 1980's I used to ride with a govt. trapper in Burnet, Texas who had two Blue Lacys he used for coyote dogs. They would find the coyote where ever they would drag the trap with the chain and hook. Ken
