KS Song dog down-Thanks KennyM
« on: October 24, 2011, 07:59:00 PM »
I heard something cross the creek. I was expecting a deer when she came trotting through. Her route was behind my tree, I can't recall the shot (adrenaline?) and still don't know how I got my bow around the side of the walnut tree, but at 18 yds I made a good shot and pass through with a POC tipped with 160 grain STOS, 600 grains total. 20 yard recovery. The bow was made by our very own KennyM I recieved in the "bow swap" over on the bowyers bench. Thanks again Kenny. Sorry for the cell phone pics. I took the bloody arrow back to the house and had my brother convinced it was a 200+ buck. He was pi$$ed when he followed the blood trail to a coyote! Thanks for looking.

Nice Shot and good story.  I too have a hard time recalling the shot sometimes when I've made a good shot on an animal.  Especially when it happens fast.  I guess that's part of the reason why I'm still doing this bowhunting thing.

Congrats on the song dog.  It’s a good looking Yote, got any idea what he weighed?

I just want to add that I kill coyotes for a living working for the USDA. We check stomach contents, and in the spring, roughly 50% of the coyotes I kill have deer or antelope fawns in them. Keep killing those coyotes. That one fawn could be a 180 class deer in the future.
