My first trad deer with my Kenny M. longbow
« on: October 26, 2011, 08:43:00 PM »
I made 4 Kenny M. design longbows and two Binghams one piece recurves this year. I got a lot of good help here and worried Kenny M. a lot. The second one I made was a desert camo Kenny M.,as you will see in the pictures. We don't have any deserts in Virginia but this bow just fit me better than the others. I practiced a lot this year. I hunted the last 13 days and have only seen two deer and one coyote. Didn't get a shot at any of them. I put up a stand on Sunday on my 5 acres that we bought in January. It is about 80 yards from my house. I had two deer come by this morning at 7:45 and when I reached for my bow, one saw me and they turned inside out and ran to the bottom my hill, snorted at me for about 5 minutes. About an hour later 3 came down the ridge and one gave me a shot at 15 yards. I watched the arrow go right where I was looking. This was only, the second shot, I have ever shot at a deer with trad gear. I missed one about 5 years ago. Have killed a lot of deer with a wheel bow, muzzleloader and a rifle but this was the best one yet. It was a doe but I'm as happy as if it was a 10 pointer. The bow is 64" and 51@ 28". I was shooting Gold Tip blemish 35-55, full length, with 100 grain brass insert with Woodsman heads. I made a Dynaflight 14 strand string and was shooting 3 under. Sorry for the long story. Don

Beautiful animal, great looking bow, and no more perfect shot has ever been made. Congratulations.
