New Used Bow
« on: October 28, 2011, 01:48:00 PM »
I picked up a 1964 Ben Pearson "Filly" recently, when a woman brought in some of her dad's old bows to sell for him. Put a new string on the
#45@28" Filly, along with bear hair rest and strike plate and started shooting. Incredibly accurate and fun to shoot. It's my first "recurve" and it has semi-working limbs while cut to centre. Basically looks like a reflex/deflex when not strung. Hope to take her out hunting tomorrow !! My ten year old grabbed some footage for me

I enjoy the "vintage" recurves from the 60's and 70's.  The Golden Age of Recurves with the Bears, Pearsons, Drakes, Howatts, Wilsons and all that talent guiding production.

I just took a deer on the 15th with a 1966 Browning.  I take a great satisfaction in keeping the older stuff "running" and in the woods.  The bows I drooled over as a kid.

Nothing better than a "brand new" used bow

Thanks a good looking old bow. Quiet too upon arrow release. No string twang.
