Zwickey Broadheads
« on: October 29, 2011, 12:33:00 PM »
I was flipping pages in the TBM and came upon an ad for what I assume is a new broadhead for Zwickey.(page 57) Is it just me or does it have a look ,like its a 3 blade head?

The picture, if it is what you are speaking of, shows a broadhead that is VERY barbed.  Is that legal in any state ?

not a three blade but definetly barbed and therefore illegal in New York.

Here you go.  The new Cliff head signed by Jack Zwickey courtesy of Greg Schwehr of the ABCC.

A proper two-edged single blade.  But, as Kev noted, barbed and not legal for big game in NY and a few other states . . . for big game.

It's legal in South Carolina. It's the same profile as the trade points my Dad and I used to make 25 years ago.

Trailing edge is less than 90° to perpendicular to the shaft.  That makes it "barbed" by NYS definition.

Hmmmm. Might have to give those a try, since they legalized barbed heads in TN this year.

Stumpkiller,
Interesting pics on what legal and whats not in N.Y  By the looks of it would that mean that the 2 blade Rage is also illegal? It would seem to have the same profile. Just curious.

With this longer cutting angle, I would bet that they will fly nice and be very effective. What I always tell newbies that are sharpening impaired about trad broadheads, 'get the zwicky, get them as sharp as the one I sharpened and trust it.'  Now I have a new Zwicky to tell folks to get.

Don't know why you'd ever want to use it.  Just the potential to increase the pain and suffering of an animal trying to remove it if you make a bad shot.

I don't need a harpoon.  Maybe it's for fishing.

+1 Mr. Magoo. I don't see the benefits, other than it looks cool. I'll stick with my Eskalites.
