Finaly # 2 this year.
« on: November 02, 2011, 01:08:00 AM »
First thing this am had two come in and run circles around me and hit the after burners .Nothing the rest of the day .Last stand was upaganst?sp a persimon tree between some almonds and some cherries.Did some dog death screams for maybe one minute and one runs out of the almonds and in the cherries.I can see him messing around in them maybe 45 yards out. I just sit there and see if the decoy will bring him in .He runs up to the decoy and jumps back, circles it. And perfect . The arrow is on its way. See it diapear the coyote flips and takes off and I lose it . Find the arrow.

And lots of this.

Took three months sence my last one ,but been real fun trying. Look at all that nice fluffy hair and it has a nice white tip on its tail.
This guy was in bad shape and hungry.

Good shooting.

I haven't seen one yet this bow season, and that is unusual.  Between the coyotes, hawks and, I suspect, fishers (saw 5 at once!) we lost 25 chickens this past summer.  I was planning to get a little revenge.

Thanks guys. Gatekeeper the decoy is a old racoon tail that I let my dog chew on. That way it has some dog smell on it.Heres a picture of it hanging from a stiff wire.and where the coyote was .decoy on left arrow is where I shot him.

View from arrow (coyote)to the persimontree. just right of the big cherrie tree.

Cherries he was messing around in after he was called in.

Gatekeeper I never touch the decoy with my bare hands you donot want human scent on it.Its going to get on it any way but I think it helps.

I called a coyote into a deer decoy a few years back and everything was cool until he put his nose to the ground and smelled where I stood when I setup the decoy. When he hit that scent he turned inside out and boogied out of sight.

What do you do to minimize your scent around your decoy setup? I agree with not touching the decoy. Do you store your decoy in the freezer?
