Problems shipping to Austria? Help??
« on: July 12, 2007, 04:01:00 PM »
I wonder, has anyone ever shipped a bow to Austria? Long story short, I am being told I cannot ship it there because of a maximum 42" length restriction. (This is of course AFTER they gave me a quote)

Has anyone had any experience with shipping to Austria, or this problem in particular?

Thanks in advance.

You have to ship UPS and it will cost $100 plus in most cases.

You can ship anything anywhere as long as you pay for it.  If the shipper you're dealing with has a "length restriction" ... just get another shipper (or maybe speak to a manager and not the person who was making fries last week.)

The restrictions aren't set here but by the receiving country. You should double check the lengths, but 42" wouldn't surprise me. there is no standard in Europe, some countries are 60" some 48" etc. You can still ship Fed Ex or UPS, but you will pay a considerably larger amount like Mike said.

Thanks everyone. Turns out, if you read the fine print (while squinting) it is a 46" restriction.

Which, bye the way, they will gladly waive for cash!

UPS=$185.00...USPS over $125.00...Fed Ex....well I just stopped looking at that point.

Looks like the price of collecting and trading bows in Austria just went up. Funny thing is.....it's just $36.20 (with $150.00 of insurance) to ship it to Germany! In three days!

Go figure?

Hey MJB....might have a Grizzly for ya yet.

Might want to look close on the Germany.  USPS has a 60" restriction to all of Europe.  Unless it changed in the last week.
