Newer Loc-On stands feedback
« on: November 03, 2011, 09:59:00 AM »
I really liked the old Loc On stands and still have a Spirit.

Does anyone use one of the new one? If so are they the same as the first generation?

I haven't tried a new stand, but I did buy the new, padded, flip up seats for 2 LEMS and they sure beat the old cloth seats.....huge improvement!

I have a windwalker thats probably 15-18 years old.  I ordered a replacement seat and was disappointed.  The fabric was some kind of cordura that made noise if you looked at it.

A buddy of mine, who is an extremely experienced bowhunter, ordered 5 windwalkers.  He returned them all.

I don't think the new owners are bowhunters.

look into the millenium stands, same basic design, much more comfortable.

I'm looking for light like the Limit. If I wasn't slightly over the 225lb weight limit I'd get the Windwalker on the classifieds now.

Bishop,

I'm 230 lbs, was 255 for years, and I've used my windwalker for 90% of my climbs in the past 10 years.

I think the Windwalker was rated for 250 pounds anyway.

I wouldn't let 225 keep me from using an original windwalker at all!

I have 3 original "LImits" with the cross bars,,,not the aluminum grate.  I can't think of a better stand.  The new ones though, with the aluminum grate seem to be to noisey.  I suppose you could put some carpet down.

Summits hawk series is Fantastic. It is a bracket system, so I have 5 brackets with pegs or ladders set up all the time and can take the stand (very light 12 lbs.) in and out depending on the hunt. It looks like it was stolen with just the bracket up there and both keeps your stand safe and others out.

I don't see why they would be any different than the older ones. They look the same to me. Great stands! The Spirit has got to be the best overall stand ever.
