Shark bit Nanny...
« on: November 08, 2011, 09:36:00 PM »
Was able to get out for a short hunt this evening. I have a few tree stands in a swamp Bottom. Two on great crossings . Each set for a different wind and one on a small ridge/island that is hot when acorns are dropping. The island stand has post oaks and a few small live oaks on it and the post oaks are dropping good. I killed a doe this week last year on them and decided to sit there this evening wind permitting.

I got on a stand a bit later than I like too but didn`t spook anything going in.While I was organizing my gear in the tree I heard squirrels getting fired up and in about 20 minutes an old doe comes walking through....

I got my Mohawk in my hand and got ready. She was feeding under a post oak where I didn`t have a shot because of a few limbs. she then turned slightly quartering away and was walking through a "gap headed to a small live oak.I hit anchor and zoomed in low mid rib and my mind said "right there" and the arrow was gone. The arrow went within an inch of where I was looking and the deer was on a hard run afterwards.....

it was till early so I decided to sit till dark. Heard a deer go through towards my "lower" crossing stand but I did`nt see anything else. At dark I got down and walked to where the deer was standing at the shot.
I was shooting my Trusty Mohawk longbow and this evening I had a 2016 with a Simmons Interceptor on the end with a bleeder blade.Kinda funny I had 4 different hunting arrows in my quiver and all have different kinds of broadheads on them.Simmons,Woodsman, no mercy and a Snuffer. What can I say they all work...
  At the shot..

And a couple more along the trail. Simmons and Snuffers make the best blood trails of any head I`ve ever used and I shoot less than 50lbs at 27. I could have taken 30 yards worth of pictures like this. 30 yards cause thats how far she ran..

You can't beat those entrance holes.  They are brutal and I can't see myself shooting anything else.  When you get complete penetration with that bow setup and those size heads it doesn't get any better.

Great pics
