Where to you call home?
« on: November 12, 2011, 11:52:00 AM »
First let me say again how fortunate I feel about finding this site, seems like a great source to learn more about this great sport. And if this topic has already been cussed and discussed then I apologize. But I would find it interesting to find out where you guys call home. Or where you were originally from and where you call home now. I’m from Utah, born and raised here. And while we don’t have the opportunity to take as many deer as some of you guys have I couldn’t imagine life out of the Rocky Mountains.

Raised in So. Cal. but moved to Wyoming soon as I could. Casper is home and like Del Gue said in the movie "the Rocky mountains is the morrow of the earth" Yeah the wind blows and it gets cold but you can feel THE EARTH IS ALIVE! here and it's home.

Lot's of folks just put in a state but some states are rather large. A town would be nice in their profile.

I live in Forks Wa. In the olympic rain forest not far from where the strait of juan de fuca meets the pacific ocean.
It rains about 140 inches a year. We have roosevelt elk, blacktail deer, bear and cougar for big game. For fishing it is salmon, steelhead and trout in the many rivers and the ocean.
I doubt I will ever live anywhere else.

Raised as an Army brat, so I lived several places growing up. Did a little stint in the Green Machine myself, ending up at Ft. Wolters, Texas (Mineral Wells). Got a job with Ft. Worth PD after the Army, but wised up and moved to Wyoming in 1977. With the exception of a couple of months in the winter in Arizona, I'm not leaving Wyoming, and I am fortunate enough to live in Buffalo, on the east face of the Bighorn Mts. Unlike PrarrieDog, I moved from Casper because the wind there is brutal. No place better than Buffalo for me.
