Reflective tape source?
« on: November 17, 2011, 02:57:00 PM »
I want to put some reflective tape on my squirrel arrows so I can find them in the dark after stand hunting.  I have checked at a couple stores and no luck yet.  Any local sources you have found?

I went to NAPA, just a round role used to put on trailers. It has red and white but I just use the white. I put it on all my arrows now.

http://www.identi-tape.com/hi-intensity.htm  This stuff is heavy duty and has a tough protective top layer that wants to pop up when it's wrapped around the tight circumference of the arrow shaft. To fix this issue, I put a little super glue along the exposed edge of the reflective tape and then wrap the reflective tape with electrical tape and let the glue set. It’s one more step to building arrows but the tape does make finding the arrows in the dark a lot easier.

I got some at an Automotive store, They had white and red, I guess it's used for trailers and such. It was cheap....I should get some more !!

Sounds like I need to get out of the tape department at the local stores and into the automotive department.  Thanks for all the info.

Just a tip I cut tape into 1" squares and put push pins in them and keep them in a small plastic box in my quiver pouch. When tracking I always put one in a tree(on each side) every 15 yrds so I can leavce the deer to get help if I need help taking it out and find way my back without a problem. You take them out when you leave with the deer.
Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a
difference in the world, but the Marines don’t have that problem.

I buy reflective wraps from onestringer.  Cut them the length you want and they are deminsioned to fit around the arrow.

I tried the reflective tape from wally world on my fiberglass bowfishing arrows and have had poor luck getting them to stay on. I'd second reflective wraps or remnants.

I was having trouble keeping my tape on until I started over lapping the tape just a little and then putting a bead of glue on the over lap. That way if I want to change tape I can just cut it off and no glue is touching the arrow.
