Michigan Whitetails
« on: November 17, 2011, 04:29:00 PM »
It has been a good Michigan whitetail season for me, probably my best.

October 22, 54# Talltines, 3555 GT Trad, 200 grain VPA, 18 yard shot.  I had changed into tracking clothes because I knew I hit shoulder, but she only went 100 yards.

November 12, 53# Silvertip, 3555 GT Trad, 200 grain VPA.  Rattled the buck in from over 300 yards and let him go by me for a 6 yard quartering shot.  Entered near the last rib and came out in the opposite pit.  100 yards and he was down in sight.  The doe came in with 3 friends 20 minutes later.  10 yard broadside shot and down in 20 yards.

November 13, 54# Talltines, autumn orange 1918, Wensel Woodsman.  12 yard shot and down in 75 yards.

Probably won't get out again until the December hunts, but that is just fine!

Congats it has been a great season for you.

Congratulations Dave - love the Michigan success stories.  Those look like some good size does - did you weigh any of them?  Where are you hunting?

Thanks guys.

Bobby, these are Calhoun County.  I have a good scale in camp, but I haven't put up a buck pole to hang deer yet so they didn't get weighed.  They were good sized, but there a bigger ones around that we see regularly, usually with nostrils flaring and looking up into the trees!

Well Done! You're shooting a couple fine bows there too, how do you choose before a hunt which one gets the call?
