Got wet yesterday, Joe saw a buck today. Getting ready to head out for the afternoon sit. I haven't shot at a deer in a week so I'm itchy   :readit:

I saw a hunter last night. Nuthin was moving in our little finger funnel we sat in. Squirrels came out right at dark, seemed as the wind was starting to die down a bit.

Had no less than 150 ticks crawling on me yesterday.  This place is infested with them, so bad I refuse to sit on the ground in there until it snows.

Charlie, Use permanone!  It works wonders....

Let a 4pt walk Thurs...pm

Sat. morn...nothing

This morning...nothing. But I was setting about 20yds. from a rubbed up area I found the other day in the rain. Including one giant rub! Set a cam to see "who" was the maker. Hunted this morning, didn't see a thing. But switched the cards in the cam...I got him!

He was a nice 8pt last year(got a pic,never saw him), this year he's a BIG 8pt!

pix later...

Curt and Izzy,

I have heard of it but cannot seem to find it. I was told Wally World has it but not my local store.

Where do you buy Permanone?

Curt,

I am looking forward to those pictures. Good luck Fellars.

Not so fortunate by me. Haven't seen anything since the opener. A tick latched on me good and left a worrisome mark. Went to the hospital on West Point since I was working yesterday, and had doc look at it. Now I'm on antibiotics and go in for follow up blood work next week. Damn these things. Its not peak season for lymes, but you can never be too sure. I'm giving tomorrow a break, but will head out before and after work on Tuesday.

Good luck guys

Any of you N.Y. guys seeing acorns....Last year everywhere I went it was like walking on marbles...this year, I have yet to see any and I'm hunting in more than one spot. I have seen a few beech nuts but not many. Just wondering if it's just up here or all over....thanks!

Ron, Its just up there. I have been seeing better acorn crop in Southern Zone.

Jeff Congrats. E mail me the pics, and if not too late I will post them tonight.

Casey,  I'll be hoping for the best.  The good news is, if you have lymes you caught it early enough.  those little buggars are every where.

Had a spike tease me this morning.  I decided if he gave me a shot I'd try and, sure enough, after zig-zagging all around the backside of the tree my stand is in where I had no hope he went up the hill and then back down, then worked along to my right through cover - again no shot - and then, just as he moved to a good window, I drew back and gave a little "Aaaaa" bleat and he stopped . . . after turning to offer his butt at 20 yards and head looking off to mt left at 90°.  He then walked slowly straight off, without even so much as a tail twitch.

Had my face rubbed in it by a spike!  God, I love these animals.

PS - No acorns a'tall.  LOTS of apples in the little feral scrub apples around here.
