Yes the 70s, thats about the time Glen. Wasnt it cool? Deer werent as plentiful up my way back then so it was a real treat to see so many. What I would have given to walk those fields with a bow in hand.

I remember those days at Arden too. Used to drive up from NJ as a kid and see a hundred deer from NJ line to Harriman toll booth.

I hear a visiting NY Bowhunter had a look at some deer this past weekend.
Perhaps he will be along to tell his story.
Manny, Man up

Glad you had a great trip.

Well friends, that will be the story of an arrow over the buck's back, in a moment of stupid over confidence
But it will be more than that, the story of friendship, of family warmth, and extreme generosity from Drew who worked so hard to put me on game!
You NY trad hunters are a class of your own! Kenny, Drew, Charlie, Ron, Ken...
Tonight I'll be able to post and have some pictures up!

Where are you hunting Ron? I can surely put you on some state land where youll at least see a deer. You need to move to the east bank of the Hudson , let me know man it may be worth a try. I only have 2 days to hunt left before gun opens but Ill be sitting the "Escarpment Stand" where I see deer 90% of the time and have killed over 20 deer from.
Been hunting a new this year stand that was kind of abstract, not much sign or food but relied on terrain features and thermals hoping to catch cruising bucks checking the corn fields from above. So far it hasnt paid but I think its about to get active. Theyre still rubbing the trees there but not when Im in the stand. It was worth a shot and might try it late season again. Man if we could only get deer season Mulligans.

I'm hunting where I have access, And with the price of gas I'm not traveling all over hells half acre to see "if" I can see a deer. I'm on state land and private. There are just not many deer around. I'm talking to other guys around here and most are seeing very few animals. There is almost no mast crop......just tough going!! I sad part is I have seen more deer sign up north where it's really hard hunting!

I just returned home from Westchester. I have to shower, eat, and spend some time with the family. I do have a story to tell, and Greg has pictures. Maybe he can post the tree pic for now...

It was intense Charlie. Felt like an hour but was only a few minutes. I had a decoy out, and somehow a buck got within twenty yards without Greg our I seeing him...talk about nerve rattling!

I am looking foreward to Saturday in my new stand. Plan to hunt all day. I saw a real nice 8 standing in the middle of a field today at noon. When he decided I was making him uncomfortable he ran toward me instead of away and crossed the road right in front of me. Could have mowed him down with the truck if I wanted!
