I managed to get a shot. I missed...the deer bounded all the way out to eight yards, I didnt miss again. Charlie, it went about 90-100 yards...with both lungs deflated and the top of the heart sliced.
Gotta sleep. The story tomorrow.  :)

The morning started great. I got into a spot where I watched the big six chase a doe halfheartedly. I was actually stuck in my stand after dark the night before until he moved off. Once Greg and I met u, we hatched a plan. He would take the high ground where we saw decent activity, and I would get into the valley I saw the action in.
8 comes, nothing. We decide the moon and the high temps has them bedded already, we are going to leave early, and get back in early....

On the walk out, we jump a buck out of his bed. We were right. We are back in the stand by 1230, knowing we are in for a long sit. The wind picked up, and it got chilly. Branches snapped off in the early snow are constantly dropping. Trees fell. All the while, not a deer spotted. I thought I saw one on the side hill in front of me at one point, but couldnt be sure.

Around 4:20, I heard what sounded like a dog hacking up grass. I first thought Greg c oi ughed or sneezed, but realized it was more behind me. I turn, and see nothing. Then a maple branch taken down the snow starts moving, and I see antler from behind a tree. Instantly I am up, bow in hand. I move the large bow hook as far out of the way as I can. He makes his way towards Doe-reen, a montana decoy. There he is. 7 yards broadside and no shot due my bow hook! He circles downwind of the deke, and very close to downwind of me. I spin 180° and lift my bow slowly over my climber. He turns back towards the deke, green light! I draw, anchor, and the arrow sails right over his back! He bounds right passed my tree...and stops to look at Doe-reen.
Be back, gotta get the wife from work.

While he was bounding, I managed to turn 90° in the stand, and nock an arrow. He had no idea what happened. He looked around, at the deke, up at me....the whole time i a, trying not to shake, breathe, and burn a hole where I want the arrow. I cant move...them he steps forward, putting his head behind a large tree. I draw, anchor....THWACK! Perfect shot! He takes off through downfalls, barnerries.....anything in his way. He turns uo towards Greg, and I thought I heard my arrow smack a rock. Over the wall, and down! Im shaking so bad I almost fall. I throw my hands out in triumph and almost throw the bow. I look up to Greg, he is doing a similar dance. What an amazing rush!

Thought I was the only one that did that.  :)  Funny.

On a side note, is there some sort of training thread that instructs members how to post snippets of stories and drag them out so that others will impatiently wait to hear the rest of it? If so, I would like to see that.  :)

I,ll wait til Jamie Lamb finishes his tale but I had an action packed day. I saw the most deer Ive seen in one sitting in quite a while. One of them left me this to follow.
