Ulfrotte? Where do you get it?
« on: November 20, 2011, 01:52:00 PM »
Curious about dealers and prices. Any Tradgang sponsors?  Internet is not helping me.

Thanks

Ah, I'll be watching this too. I used to get it from Bernie Parsons but he went off to other ventures. FANTASTIC stuff.
I have every weight made in tops, bottoms and socks. It is my favorite merino.

Minus 33 is comparable in quality, and cheaper.

Is it relly the same stuff?
I thought what made Ulfrotte different is how it is sewn. I know that it is in my opinion the best piece of clothing I have ever put against my skin.

If I'm not mistaken, they've rebranded.

Not Ulfrote anymore. I have dealt with the importer at the Harriburg, PA Sport Show and there was some reason it was re-named. Then the owner died of a heart attack. His sister continues to market it... I always get it at the show, but it's gotten way to pricy for my budget. Glad I got two sets back when it was "more" affordable.

Thanks for all the responses. . . gladly support a sponsor.  However, the word "pricey" makes me nervous.     :(           I just may be visiting Goodwill again! Got two 100% merino wool sweaters there last time for $8 a piece!!

Thanks guys.

I also would encourage support of TG sponors. That being said, I will give 2 thumbs up to the folks at Alex Outdoors for customer service and note that they have a pretty good selection of Woolpower.

I've got both the older Ulfrotte and Minus 33.
Both nice but I use the   Expedition weight Minus 33 1/4 zip and pants a lot more. The midweight was terribly over-sized.

The thing I like about the Ulfrotte is the full length zipper even though it's on the wrong side, Euro-like. Sorry I don't even remember where I bought it.

I have Woolpower/Ulfrotte and Minus 33. No perceptable performance differnce to me (200g level)

Ulfrotte is thicker but looser weave. Kind of like terry cloth. Minus 33 is tighter and thinner. I like thinner for multi layers.

Much more variety in Minus 33 styles, no zip, 1/4 zip, full zip.

I got a great deal on woolpower (Ulfrotte) at MidwayUSA. It is comfy stuff, but it tends to pull. It's a terry cloth and the little loops get caught. The fabric is a loose weave. Traps lots of air but no wind protection whatsoever. Some of the seams are steering to to pull apart on mine and I don't wear it too often(rarely cold enough in MD). I go for the minus 33 under my first lite Llano.
