Broad head packaging, 3 or 6 per package
« on: November 23, 2011, 08:44:00 AM »
You tell me. I have always thought 3 per package is plenty, but Grizzly’s have always been 6 per pack. What would you like to see. 3 per package or 6 per package?

Bill,

It really depends on price.  I like to see the overall price of the package at less then $30.

I look at it like this, I will make either a half dozen arrows at a time or a dozen and it would be easier to buy one pack for the six at a time. Its kinda like hotdogs 10 per pack and only 8 buns in a pack you feel obligated to by another pack of buns so not to leave the other dogs out. So have a six pack of heads and you feel like you spent less. its all psycological in the end.

A 6-pack sounds good to me... Four for hunting and two for practice.....  :archer2:

I like 6, I can use 2 or 3 as practice heads and the other 3 as my hunting heads. I can sharpen pretty good but still like a head that has not been shot into dirt or a block a hundred times and than shapened to hunt with, much rather have 3 extra as my hunters. Snuffers come in 6 packs and I like that. I am shooting VPA's and they are a 3 pack(pricey too, but maybe a tad of a discount for buying 6)I end up buying two 3 packs at a time for reasons mentioned! Bill,Who takes just three BH's to the field?
I do,sometimes.
My bigest thing with BH's is this. 6/pack
3-mounted for practice
3-mounted and SHARP for hunting.
If I go out of town for a hunt then I take 6-12 arrows for hunting and 3-6 more for practice.
AND the cost should be around $30/6(please)
Thats my story and I am stickin' to it.

I don't understand what the problem is with buying (2) 3-packs if you want (6) broadheads.

The only reason they went to 3 per pack is because the price has gone up on a lot of Bh's and they know people will cringe at the higher price for 6.

as said above, 4 heads in quiver, 2 for practice shots. I even carry one of the practice heads in quiver so I can send a shot into a stump from stand etc... 6 per pack definately

I agree with Bisch.  If the price is higher, you may do better selling 3 packs.  If you keep a 6 pack under $30 you'd sell a ton of them.

I guess it would be no problem Gene, good point.
From a buyers stand point, I like the value of a six pack.
From a manufacturing stand point, It cuts your cost of Packaging In Half. Thats a good thing.

Good point Chuck. As buyers we sometimes don't look at the other side of the fence...the manufacturer. If it will cost less to package 6 to a pack and that savings is passed on to the buyer that is the way to go. Even if you don't use all 6 right away I bet you will soon enough!

I usually buy 12 at a time, so six is fine.

But if the sticker says $30 or more there better be a bunch more than three in the package.     :biglaugh:

I think i would rather do a 6-pak at a time.Price isnt really a issue because they cost the same in the long run anyway.

Exactly correct. It's a way to try making people feel like they're not spending as much as they really are.

I always prefer a 6 pack.

With a 3 pack, I'd use one broadhead for experimentation on a target. That would leave me 2 broadheads for an actual bowhunt.

That works great if I'm bowhunting from the house, but if I'm on a 3 day package bowhunt 500 miles from my home out in the far west or south Texas boonies, I want more than 2 shootable sharp broadheads in my quiver.

Also, with a 6 pack, on a long trip, I want one 6 pack package to take with me. With a 3 pack, I'd have to carry two, 3 packs. Knowing me, if I lose or misplace one 3 pack, I'm down to the lone remaining 3 pack.

I like the old adage. "Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it".       :D

I also will say that it would be darn near impossible to keep a 6pk. under $30. I would buy a lot more VPA's for example if they were $50 for a six pack. Shawn

I think a 6 pack is better.

Even though I am not on the manufacturing end of things, I always think about wasted packaging, wasted space, wasted energy, etc...

At the same time I do understand the psychological aspects. People are more likely to buys something in a smaller package if it is an expensive item...but in the end it doesn't really help anybody. Unless it is a broadhead that you have never tried before and want to test it out for the first time.
