Commercial Blind Tall Enough For Longbow?
« on: November 27, 2011, 11:11:00 AM »
I would like to find a blind that I can use with my 64" longbow but all seem to be way too short. I purchased an ASAT model because I really love that camo pattern but there was just no way I could get in it and draw.  It had to be made for a compound bow or something really short.

I thought of just making my own front and back part out of ASAT fabric but the more I think about it, the more I realize that the scent containment benefit of a fully enclosed unit is ideal.

I have looked at a few on 3 Rivers but they do not seem to be tall enough. So, do you guys know of any models that actually work?

Check this blind out we really like them and I shoot my 68" hill bows out of them. 84" tall and 90" wide.

K. S. Trapper....I have looked at these blinds with interest in the past, yet have actually never personally seen one set-up. Even requested our local Rural King to set one up since they displayed several set-up blinds. No luck.

The design appears that standing is required to shoot unless you had a tall chair. Standing would be advantageous though I would need a different seat. My waldrop seat would likely to low to even view the area.

Would you care to shed a little more feedback regarding your experience with the Baronett GR 350?

The 6x6 hidden hunter would be my choice

The windows are just a tad high but I have shot out of them in a seated position several times using a DoubleBull like chair.

I think there a good blind but could make some changes on there window system, You are kind of limited on your shots because there's a bar running right through the window but most do. The zippers only run one way also instead of a double.

Here's a standing view while in mine.

Not the best pick but thats all I have downloaded on Photobucket. I can get more when I get home tonight.

Ameristep Bighouse blind is another we have and it's about the same size.

The windows are a little higher and most of the time I stand to shoot out of it. You can see How tall they are in this pick but Charlies chair is in a little worn out spot making it look lower then it is.

I leave the screens up and have never had any problems with arrow flight . I like being able to move around in theses blinds and plenty of room for two bowhunters at the same time.

I do not believe the Shrew will be tall enough as I shoot a 72" longbow. A REAL Bow- HA.

The ASAT Reaper has a footprint of 58" square and 69" in height, allowing bowhunters to shoot from a standing position. Distance from hub to hub is 72". That is from their website but it was not tall enough for me no matter how low I get.  I think something 84" minimum.

Please keep the suggestions coming.

I've shot my 64 in bow from my reaper although kinda limited to only shooting from sitting and out of one corner it always felt good, of course you could just get a shorter bow lol, I built a 54 in bow and wellllll I can shoot it any where lol...

Check out Barronett 350 Blood Trail.  It's 80" high, and I have no problem shooting my longbow out of it.  It's a hub blind, so goes up very easily.

I take it most of you are leaving these blinds out during the season on private land. Anybody using these on public land?

The DB recurve model is fine, I have shot bows as long as 66"s out of it. I now have a Field and Stream model from Dicks, great blind for $129 on sale and I could shoot any bow up to 66"s out of it. Remeber it has alot to do with how much ya cant the bow as well as the length of the bow. Shawn

My recurve model T-5 worked just fine as long as I limited my shooting to sitting in a blind chair or from my knees.. Yhe new Darkhorse recurve is a little better but I still shoot sittng down..

Waiting4Fall,

Thanks for the video. That thing looks really tall and may be what I order.

Do you use this in the rain? Do find that these enclosed blinds work well when it is raining or do you get all wet inside?
