last minute trip....
« on: November 29, 2011, 04:29:00 PM »
Hi All.
Call me crazy but I still have a doe so I am headed back to the woods... Problem is the woods are a 6 hour drive away and I'll just be able to hunt Fri PM, Sat AM/PM and Sun AM.  Then drive 6 hours home.

  Am I nuts or what???

Id do it in a second. My brother lives 5 hours away in mega buck country and if only I could get him to climb a tree Id be there at least monthly instead of 2 or 3 times a year. Enjoy yourself.

I would say you sound right in que!!!!  We do it all the time,  living in central FLA we pack up on Fridays head to GA to our lease hunt till lunch on Sunday  then head home.  Nothing like a 350-400 mile afternoon drive. LOL

Good news! my Thursday afternoon schedule is not too busy, (I mean bad news, I'm self-employed so I want to be busy) so I'll get to leave at noon Thursday instead of Friday at 5am!!!

My quick trip to the whitetail woods may get to be extended.  It is snowing hard!  I had to use 4 wheel drive to get to the Subway sandwich shop.
Last night I had 4 does come by just out of my comfort range.  You know that range that in the back yard you can hit a 3D all day long but you can't hit a jumpy whitetail ever!
Hope it stops soon so I can get out to the stand for one more hunt.!

i dont know, when i lived in MT we routinely drive 6 hours to hunt that day and return late that night.

Or even more frequently, working 12hr night shifts, then the morning you get off for your weekend drive 3 hours to you hunting buddies, just to drive some more to hunt all day, and the next day, and hunt the next morning and drive back the afternoon in time to shower and head back to work for your week of night shifts.  :)
