Bighorn Sheep!
« on: November 30, 2011, 06:28:00 PM »
In 2007 I was lucky enough to draw a tag for sheep, but ended up dealing with some target panic, and ended up taking my sheep with a wheel bow. Well in Colorado you have to wait five years before you can start applying again. That's right, I can start again in 2012. After following around the sheep this week, taking pictures of the rut, I am EXCITED! I know it will be forever, maybe never, before I draw again, but at least I get to play the game....

Thanks Kenny! I am ALWAYS working on my home work. If home work were this rewarding in school I would have done much better!  :biglaugh:

Thanks for sharing the great pics!

I had a tag in 2010, and we have to wait 5 years as well to apply again. Then it will take me at least 17 points. I'll be in my 60's by then. Not sure if I can do that hunt at that age, it about killed me at 43.

Thanks Guy's! I am trying get better with the camera, and get closer to my subjects to get the best possible pictures.

Shredrock - I hear ya! Nothing like sheep hunting to bring out your mortality! The best part for me if I draw again is I will get to take my son this time.

Nice, how big a lens do you need for great shots like these?

Guspup -I have a Canon SX30IS, it is not an SLR, has a fixed lens. It will however zoom in pretty well. All of the pictures here exept for the pretty ram facing uphill and the bedded ram, were taken at less then 40 yards. the other two were 80-100 yards. The pictures are MUCH better when they are printed or even before several downloads to get them posted here. Here is the pretty ram at 20-25 yards.
