Sheild vs Parabolic

Does it really matter which style fletch I shoot? I am shooting a 45lb Martin Savannah if that matters.

I"ve never noticed a difference. I like the look of shield. Many years ago shield was very popular in Europe and parabolic was popular in the US.  Darren

i cant tell much difference,but i do think the parabolic are little less noise. really not enough diff to matter to me.

I like the look of shield also,,but they are more expensive it seems.

It is a cross of the shield and parabolic..

For the most part, no difference but like wildgame said, I have noticed in some cases that shield are noisier. I have one set of woodies that have shield cut and they are almost as noisy as flu-flus. Most however are not that pronounced.

Coolness is the only difference I can tell.  Shield cut are just plain cool.

On some bows the shield feather will hit my knuckle and it smarts.

They do look good but the only shield cuts I've had where all 12 in the dozen were quiet were some burned low by Rod Kelley of Mountaintop Traditional Arrows in Kalispell, MT. That said, it is my observation that parabolics seem to always be quiet.

I've always shot parabolic shaped feathers. This particular shape just calls to me like a siren's song.

I shoot shield cut since I utilize a soft nose tip anchor.

I shoot both (am currently fletching with Braveheart's shield cut A.M.G. feathers).  With the bow I'm now using I don't hear any difference on otherwise identical shafts with Gateway parabolic, but with other recurves the shields are a tad noisier.  It may be the rest material or arrow speed???  

I note the shields tend to group a hair to the right of the paraboilc for me.

I too have noticed a difference in noise.
It may be my arrow configuration and helix, but with the 5" shield, I can hear the difference.
I first noticed this when I was practicing next to an out building. For me, parabolic are quieter.

The shield will make just a tad bit more noise. However if you set up a large (and I mean large) backstop and have someone get behind it and shoot at your target in front of the backstop 99% of the time they can't hear the arrow coming.

No difference for me. I've used both...prefer looks of shield.

Shields just look more traditional to me. And my second anchor is the back corner in the corner of my lip. Parabolic doesn't have that corner.

I've just always used parabolic and probably always will..."if it ain't broke,don't fix it" kind of guy.
