Thunderstick "X"- photos.
« on: December 01, 2011, 07:14:00 AM »
In the process of getting this bow into the stable.  Should be picking it up this weekend.   The bow is made by Jim Reynolds (Thunderstick Archery).  Ive spoke to Jim a few times and always keep my eyes open for his work.

This bow is interesting as it is a Thunderstick X, which in conversation with Jim I learned it was never a bow he made many of.  I think he said maybe 3 were made?  Any how,  its basically a Thunderstick III with more reflex.

When I received photos of the bow I noticed the original owners name,  Lon Scott,  and thought... "hey I know that guy!".

Here are a few photos,  looks to be Cocobola riser,  Red Elm limbs,  and maybe Moose antler tip overlays (?).   If you won one, have shot one etc... feel free to chime in!

The brace is WAY too low in the photos,  it was at 4.25",  I thought it looked real low and asked the current owner.

I like the look!  It's kinda cool having something that for the most part nobody else has.  I guess you could say you really have a custom bow!!

I emailed Lon Scott (Blackhawk) about the bow and he remembered it well.  Im really looking forward to shooting the bow,  the info. that Lon passed along was very good.

Lamey,

You may need to fletch up some 3" feathers for that brace height...

You always find the Treasures... Nice looking bow, and I'll bet a shooter....  :archer2:

Nice bow!

I was always intrigued by the mysterious "X" designation that Jim put on a few bows.

I am not positive but I think that bow may have rested here at my house for a time before I got another attack of the "tradebugs".

HI Mudd,  this one came out of Georgia,  been there for a while, but it may have been yours, there werent many made.

Also my guess is if the brace were at a proper 7+/-  the bow wouldnt need 2 sets of silencers.  Looking at it now the string laying on the limb,  bet he's getting some slap.

She looks sweet, got some nice curves.  Well if she's related to the MOABs can't be too bad.

Very sweet! Is it a longbow or is it a recurve? I like its curves.

Terry,   this one was made in 02,   was one of the bows he made while coming up with the Moab.   So really he wasnt holding out,  just trying to perfect your favorite bow!

That's a beauty, I love his bows!  I sold my Mag earlier this year and have missed it ever since.  Will definitely be getting another of Jim's in the near future.

here is a better photo of the profile at a proper brace.  Will add more later...  shot it a few times this morning... faster than I anticipated.
