Sunday, December 7, 1941, Day of Infamy
« on: December 07, 2011, 06:18:00 AM »
This post has nothing to do with traditional archery and everything to do with remembrance. On this day at 7:55am the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and plunged America into the World War II. Let's remember and salute the men and women that fought to preserve our freedom. Truly, they are and some were "The Greatest Generation". During the war, my dad, Dan R. Long was a Gunners Mate on USS The Sullivans a Naval destroyer. He passed 20 years ago and we are still loosing nearly 1,300 WWII veterans each day. SALUTE!

Salute to all the vets.  Both of my grandfathers are WWII veterans.  Both are still alive.  My Dad's father turned 94 in October and was a Captain in the US Army in the Pacific Theater.  My Mom's father is 92 and was a Navy Lieutenant on the light cruiser   USS Philadelphia in the Mediterranean.  They truly are members of this country's Greatest Generation    :notworthy:

I had an uncle on a destroyer at Pearl on 7 December, and my father in law was at Schofield Barracks on that fateful day. A salute to those heros of WW2.
