How Much Wool Clothing Do You Own!
« on: December 08, 2011, 06:44:00 PM »
I just got done looking at the Classic Bowman post. I thought to my self maybe I dont own enough wool. Here is my list and I pretty much use it all. Some gets worn more than others but I love em all the same. Here is my list:

Filson products:
2 coats Double Mac Timber camo, black Mac
2 pair of Mac paints, 1 red plaid, 1 Timber camo
3 mack vests green, black, and grey plaid which I wear every day from fall to spring and it 10years old.
Outfitter sweater the heaviest sweater I have ever seen.
Morino wool skull cap wear every day all day.

Swandri
Old Swandri jacket in Skyline camo. Best wool for the money. I cant rember what I paid but it was not much at Screaming Eagle in the day. A 20 some year old I was hunting with said thats cool vintage camo. I just looked at him seems like I just baught it yesterday!

Woolrich
Man this jacket is old it was given to me by a friend I think it was his dads. Its tough and its red plaid I just love it.

Schaffer
I have a nice vest more western looking but good quality and warm. Makes me look punchy if I am out riding circle. If any one knows what that means I would be surprised!

Smart Wool
Tons of socks some mismatched but still working fine.
My all time favorite Marino wool long johns there the best no itch.
Caps
So many its to hard to rember but a lot of rail road hats. One stormy Kromer and the best is my Crown Cap brand made in Canada.

I may have forgot something I will have to go look. I will try to get pics of this stuff in action.

I have too much to enumerate everything.  Coats by Filson, Gray Wolf, KOM, Swanndri, vests by Filson, Gray Wolf, Bibs by Gray Wolf, Cabelas wool pants, whipcord and heavyweight, sweaters by Swanndri and Donnegal?, underwear by Smartwool, Woolpower, and Minus33, shirts by Pendelton and Cabelas whipcord,  hats, gloves, socks etc.  I wear it all, but mostly I use the Swanndri coat and Filson vests with Smartwool underwear on an everyday basis.  It's all good, but I especially like having a variety of weights for different levels of activity and different weather conditions.  Ask me if I like wool clothes.
And in the end of our exploring we shall return to the place where we started and know that place for the first time.

Woolrich Stag Jacket
LL Bean zip up shirt jac
2 LL Bean shirts
1 LL Bean pants heavyweight
1 Mil Surplus pants mid weight
1 Mil Surplus pants whipchord

Socks:
Patagonia
Mil Spec
Merino
Classic rag wool

Don't need much more than that in NC. The wool is nice even in weather that does not require long johns. The "itch" does not bother me (must be my Scottish blood) but when it is not above freezing all day I will definitely layer with the long johns.

I have one pair of pants, most of my bow hunting is done in september here and it in the 80s most of that time. I have a bunch of camo called cool max with tons of little hols in it. I almost never get to hunt the late seson cause I have a hard time passing on little bucks just begging to get shot  :knothead:   But that jerky is a blessing in the duck blind

My old man fell through the ice when we where fishing. I pulled him out by laying across the ice and reaching out with the auger. It was deep and he could not kick up on the ice. This all happened quickly. Well I pulled him out and I said we better go home. He said no he wanted to fish. He had on his Filson paints. He fished for about and hour or so before the water in his pac boots chilled his feet bad. He said he was fine  he just could not feel his feet anymore.

KOM bushman shirt, hooded sweatshirt, bumwarmer pants, hillbilly bibs. Silent Predator vest,Filson vest,Woolrich shirt jacs all earth tone plaids LL Bean cargo pants plaid, Johnson woolen mills plaid shirt jac,Melton plaid shirts,Penedelton plaid shirts. Most of the wool I have has been purchased at Good Will type stores for a few dollars. I attribute most of my hunting success to wearing and hunting in wool, there is no other material that comes close.

Lots and I just grabbed a Asbell pull over off the Classifieds. The only thing better than wool is another layer of it! Warm and silent!! Did I mention I have a lot.....don't tell my wife......

I've jumped on the wool band wagon. Love the stuff. Socks, Asbell pullover, Minus33 base layers. I've got a Woolrich Buffalo shirt coming for Christmas. It doesn't get too cold down here, but it gets cold enough ( and windy)
