ouch that hurt...
« on: December 08, 2011, 10:51:00 PM »
Hi
Last Thursday night while hanging a stand my foot slipped off of my 3rd step while installing  my 5th step.  I was only 30 inches off the ground. I had my linesman strap but not using it yet.  I caught the 4th step in the arm pit on my way to the ground..OUCH.  No other injuries. I did the Fred Flintstone dance for awhile   and I finished putting the stand up.
There are about a zillion ways this slip could have been worse...

I didn't see the picture but I am sure it wasn't pretty.

I hope and pray that you heal up without any residual problems.

I found a cure(almost) for that kind of injury years ago.

I try my best to keep both feet on the ground.
( as I typed this last sentence the memory of me laying on my back flashed back in my mind.)

I was walking out one evening with my Pacseat on my back, I tried to walk across a mostly dry creek bed over a pile of drift wood. My foot slipped and I ended up on my back like a turtle. I was kind of stuck for awhile as I couldn't sit up or turn over. After a bit of struggling I laid back and enjoyed the humor of the situation.

I'm glad you weren't hurt any worse.

God bless,Mudd

I don't use those screw in steps anymore just for that same reason. I took one in the thigh one time.... and yes it went into my leg. Lucky I had a good strap and a hand hold. Those things are sharp and will go right in with enough force.

I hunted in a ground blind the rest of the season.
