Size of Asbell Pullovers
« on: December 10, 2011, 01:29:00 PM »
I am 6 foot tall and 220 pounds and I want to order a pullover , I don't know if I should order (28oz)wool of the XL or XXL ,Do they run small or are they average. I would wear of fleece or wool shirt underneath. Can you guys give me some help on this? What size has worked for you. I don't need it before Christmas,I've just been wanting to get a couple of them for the past year .  I have some other wool stuff ,And I'm just wearing them out and I need some more. So I can carry my New Griffin in style !

Thanks for your help

xl should work fine for you. I wear a 2xl and I'm 50 pounds heavier. Give Teresa a call. She is always happy to answer questions but she is not easy to catch during the winter months(Jan.Feb.and March).

Carl- I would say XL would be fine.  I am about the same size as you and I have a vest that's an XL.  I can layer under it, or either  use it underneath, or outside my fleece and wool jackets when it gets real cold.  If you call Theresa she will set you straight also.  Brian

Teresa makes them a bit oversized to allow for layering. At your height and weight, I would say an xl would be fine. I'm almost 6'2" and weigh 250#. My xl is fits fine over merino wool base layer. My 2xl fits over a double base layer and still allows for a vest underneath if it is really cold or windy. Mike

But remember that if you get bigger, the wool doesn't. Teresa was kind enough to point that out to me!   :D

OK, I just finished talking to Teresa, very pleasant to visit with, and the conversation went a little bit longer when I told her I was born and raised in the woods of Michigan.  She suggested that I would need the XL, of course I ordered the Mackinaw.  And also a vest with a hood.  And I wanted to order a second Mackinaw, but I will wait until I get the other one.  I had her put an extra layer in the lower section of the back, because I've had back surgery five times, and it helps to keep my backside really warm.  Stinking arthritis !  It's always good to order from someone like the Asbell's

Thanks for all your help

Hey deerspotter,

I'm about your size.

I just got a windblocker vest from them...really like it.

I ordered a XXL.

It looked really big...but...
It was perfect fit over my underlayers.
One thing that you must consider is that it is a PULL-OVER..no zipper.

You need some extra room built in to get it on and off easily.

Good luck!

I'm about 215lbs and 6'1"...I have one of each...XL and XXL..... I wear the XXL if I want to wear anything underneath, the XL is just to tight while shooting with just a t shirt under it! I could never really wear it in a hunting situation, the XXL is perfect for Hunting. Plus its longer in the sleeves and the waist which is good for the cold weather!

I weigh 225 at 5'9 and have a 42 inch waist. I have an XL and it works well size-wise.

I'm 6' and 224 lbs, workout regularly and have fairly even proportions -- I found the Large works just fine for me given they're sized a bit big to allow for layering.  This weekend I wore it with a synthetic base layer, two lightweight merino wool layers and the Asbell wind blocker.  Was still a bit loose, didn't interfere with shooting, etc.  I wouldn't call it 'snug' at all, it fit just right even with all the other stuff on under it.

I ordered the XL, and I will probably order my next one in XXL, I just want to see how they fit first, this one will be for early season, the next one I order will be for late season so I can layer.

Thanks
