How many arrows do you bring to 3D shoot?
« on: December 13, 2011, 01:20:00 PM »
I going to my first trad 3D shoot I'm January and wondered how many arrows I should bring.

Also does anybody use small hip or pocket quivers or do you use only back quivers.

Thanks!

Bill

Take three or four. I use a back quiver but most trad shooters I shoot with use either a pocket or side quiver. Some just use their back pockets.

If I wear a back quiver I take 8 or 10, side quiver 6 or 8. 4 or 5 is plenty but I never want to run out of ammo......lol! Most times I shoot wood so I do break an arrow now and then. Take as many as you feel comfortable with!

I generally take 3-4 arrows and I use my cedar ridge quiver.  best quiver I've found for 3d shooting.

I usually carry four in a side quiver.  However, in winter, I often take six.  The targets get hard and sometimes freeze around here.  Also, glue holding the points on my woodies tends to get more brittle, and I sometimes lose a point or two in the targets.  Temperature shouldn't be a problem in your area though.

carry as many as you want, then bring the ones that are not broken or lost back home.

I usually take at least 6 for the warm-up bale.  Rarely takes more than one arrow to shoot a course, unless there's more than one target per stake.

'Course it varies with your shooting skill and how difficult the course is.  Take what you think you will need--better to have too many than not enough.  Besides, quivers look better full of arrows.

I usually use my Safari Tuff these days, but hip and bow and side quivers work.  A back quiver is the worst for 3-D IMO--dump arrows every time you bend over to pull...at least that's what I did.

This all depends on how good you shoot that bow of yours. I just take what arrows are in my bow quiver, but I've seen shooters break and loose 6-8 arrows after a day of shooting, especially if they are shooting woods.

I take 1 dozen, 4 in my bow quiver and 8 in my side quiver. I never use all the 8 in my side quiver but i guess its just piece of mind for me that their there.

I usually take 4 good arrows and 2 stunt arrows...in a tube quiver that hooks onto belt. you might want to take a dozen since its your first time. I hardly ever lose an arrow but it does happen

When I shot my first 3D last year, I took 9 arrows in my side quiver.  After that, only 4 or 5.  At least 1 throw away arrow is a good idea.  Those steel plate shots are certain death to your arrow if you miss, unless you miss the whole target.   :archer2:

I generally take 4. Have never lost one, but have had a few end up broken or missing feathers, usually due to someones arrow hitting them.
