Quivers
« on: December 14, 2011, 01:51:00 PM »
As I was reading through many of my back issues of trad style bow magazines I began to look at how many had quivers attached to their bows and how many did not.  Thought it might be an interesting question.  For myself I always have to have a quiver on my recurves. I just think they look funny without one.  With my longbows I have shot with one on but likes the look and handling of one with out.  So I ask what do you use?
On bow
On but remove when in stand
Hill style back quiver
Other style back quiver like Catquiver and such
Hip quiver
I look forward to seeing what the numbers are   :)

This would have made a good poll thread...

i use a bow quiver on my one-piece longbows to give them a little more weight. i use a Simmons rotoquiver otherwise.

I use a plains-style back/butt quiver.  I made it so it doesn't look like much, but it completely covers the arrows so they're protected and it's very quiet.  Used to use a bow-quiver with my longbow, but found I awkward and noisy when crawling through thick brush.

I Love Bow Quivers!

I use several differant bow quivers depending on the style bow I'm shooting.

My assortment includes: Selway bolt on and slide on's, Great Plains adjustable side mount and a strap on's, along with a 4 arrow Eagles Flite with the new improved talon attaching system [ with the wedge to re-position the top hood better in line with the bow]and a couple strap on Thunderhorns...

However, once it starts raining here in the Pacific NW... It's "Safari Tuff" side quivers exclusivly for the protection they provide, their quietness, and ease of getting thru the brush, and ease of removing and replacing arrows in them with minimum motion on my part... As a bonus, it's easy to look down and find that judo among the broadheads when it's time for a practice shot.    ;)

use to have one on all my bows, but don't any more... I'm still looking for the right side quiver, like maybe a GFA... I might just make one!

The GFA style quiver is my favorite. My take down recurves are heavy enough without adding more weight to them which would be the case with a fully loaded bow quiver.

3 arrow bow quiver on my recurves for broadheads and then a leather side quiver for all small game and stumper arrows. Currently don't own a longbow but would put a small strap-on on it if I did.
Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately it kills all its pupils.

I have tried most of them and still can't make up my mind, bow quiver is just to darn convenient but I really don't care for on the bow. I like a kwikee quiver then take it off when I get set up....but you have to drill and put threaded inserts in. Back quiver is great but not in the thick stuff I hunt.....I'll keep looking. I had a Safari Tuff nice in open country ,didn't like it in the thick stuff. The Mark Baker style of Hip quiver is really one of the best for me!

I like a two arrow quiver on my bow and I carry a few extras in my Bison Gear back quiver which attaches to the pack.

It has always been bow quivers for me. Have used Great Northerns, but recently got one of Big Jims. His will be the ONLY bow quivers I use from now on. What a great product!

I like my cat quivers but my arrows are so long it gets hard to use. Fortunatly I have many styles and quivers to choose from so it changes alot :-)

Four of my bows have bow quivers (Selway and Thunderhorn) cause I like the added weight. Two others don't and have used the Selway hip quiver. Just ordered a Farr West Leathers Absorokee hip quiver and will try it out next week in Missouri hunting whitetails.
