Does anyone here wax the bowstring? I don`t believe I have ever seen or heard of a traditional shooter do it. Being I started with a compound,I always kept my string well waxed.

Been waxing my bow strings since I started bowhunting in 1964.

It's good preventive maintenance. It makes strings last longer.

I wax mine when the string feels dry to me. If you wait till you see fuzz fibers have already started to break rubbing up against each other. I use good old textite wax and a piece of leather to rub in. It works out to be every 1 1/2-2 months between waxing.

Never used it for bowstrings but it does a wonderful job of sealing leather boots. I still got most of a ring and I bought it 5 years ago.

I suppose we seldom talk about waxing strings because we figure it's just common knowledge.  Some folks mix the toilet bowl wax with bees wax to make string wax.  Check the how to section or do a search of previous threads.  Several recipes have been published.

I wax all my strings regularly.  Well worth the little bit of time it takes to do it.  I also use Bohning Tex-Tite wax and a little piece of leather to burnish it into the strands.

I wax my strings on a regular basis. Wax cuts down on the friction. Also water proofs!

Yes, took the grand kids to the "bee farm" and they had blocks of it. I use it all year round.

of course - all bowstrings need a *little* bit of wax well rubbed in to keep the fibers cohesive, and fraying to a minimum.
