Last deer hunt for 2011
« on: December 31, 2011, 01:05:00 PM »
Went out this morning for my last sit of the 2011 MN archery season. It's been slow as of late but a great season overall.

This morning I saw three does at a distance.

I hunted from one of my favorite hides. Here is the view from the major deer trail about 10 yards from where I sit.

I have killed two bucks and a doe from this hide in the past two seasons. After three years of hunting from natural ground blinds, I can't see myself ever hunting out of a treestand again.

About 10 AM I decided to still hunt my way back to my house. I investigated an area that I had not been to this season and look what I found clustered in a secluded low area.

Hope to make his acquaintance in 2012.

Happy New Year!

I always like ending a season looking at the possibilities for the next one - look for some sheds from that guy.

How often do you end the season WITHOUT snow? Tommorrow is the last day here in Michigan, and where I live I NEVER remember a lack of snow and cold like we have this year. Only a couple inches on the ground and me and my two sons enjoyed the thirty degree temps this evening as we dressed as we do in November.

I hope your winter is mild and the spring breeze is early for you.

I have one more day but they are calling for 25mph winds. I may sit it out and cook the wife and kids breakfast. They won't be expecting that.
