Has anyone read the book "Barebow!"

I am looking for a critique of the book Barebow. I am interested in picking it up and reading it but it is $90 and I am hoping for some input to make sure that it is worth the steep price. Thanks.

Who wrote it? I haven't read it (obviously), but sometimes the author's name will give a good indication as to whether it's worth the time.

I haven't read for the same reason you mentioned Warchild...the price. If it weren't for that, I would have looked into it a bit more seriously.

The authors name is Dennis Dunn. I notice that the book now costs $94.95. I am intrigued after reading the intro but am admittedly not thrilled about the price tag. My Archery library is quite extensive and it would make an awesome addition.

It is an interesting book with exceptional art work. Whether it is worth the money is always going to be an individual judgment. I am happy that I bought the book. I met Dennis at the most recent P&Y convention and he was very friendly and engaging.

To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

Yup I have the book and it is awesome. It's well worth the price in my opinion just for the artwork inside. You can learn more about the book at
www.str8arrows.com.
This tells a little more about the author as well as the artistry in the book.
Where are you at in Michigan? If your near Holland your more that welcome to check out my copy and decide for yourself if it's worth it or not.

Thanks guys! Is Dennis a traditional archer? The excerpt that I read did not say. I am assuming because of the title.

Not all his kills were taken with "traditional" equipment. But they were all taken with a bow unaided, so no sights or release.

I must admit, that is a game changer for me. I don't mind paying for a high quality traditional bowhunting book but I think I will pass on a book that is about compoundbow hunting. Certainly no disrespect to Mr. Dunn, just my personal taste.

I don't think he shoots wheels anymore. I haven't read the book but I have seen him the past couple of years posing with animals in TBM and the PBS mag with trad bows.

is it just me, or is the price of hunting books outragous? there is no book in the world truely worth $94, i understand scarcity of some books etc but wowza.
As for Barebow, i have not read it, but have wanted too, and i should have bought the 3 copies at the book exchange where i used to live for $20 a peice. DANG!
