Having LOADS of fun with this one.....I am up next month for my Silvertip!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is MY dream bow...8 years in the making. I've had Tips made since then, but out of standard riser materials due to high poundage.
I've been sitting on this piece of cocobolo for 8 years now.
And hooked up with Idahocurt here on tradgang for veneers.(do yourself a favor and get ahold of this guy!) Did the snakeskin dealings myself of course.

Heres what these photos will turn into : A 66", yes I said 66", takedown recurve from Dave. With Beth's help I finally got him to agree to do this length for me! Two sets of limbs. One bocote, one highly figured yew...not the yew seen in pic, but similar as it is being cut as we speak from a crazy tree.

The rest will come in a month or so, Oh my God I am squirming in my seat!

here is the actual yew wiped with alcohol to show grain....

I think it will be ugly...you better send it to me so it can be disposed of properly. I will make sure nobody will see it and you won't have to feel embarrassed.   :scared:     ...... In all honesty I think it will be a thing of beauty..........

Love that cocobolo!  Did you notice that the best grain is on the LEFT side? It would be a shame to cut a sight window in that area for an ole RH bow.  :p

is their any reason why you choose 66'? just curious, do you have a really long draw lenght or something?

Dan, Gilmer wood company.
Matthew, I shot olympic style for years with 68-70 inch bows. I draw 29, but have experienced longer bows are so much easier to draw and hold for me. I can draw and anchor a 66" bow @ 55# much easier and hold longer waiting for a shot than shorter bows of the same weight. You won't see any 60" recurves in Olympic competition.
Pretty much adapting my olympic style shooting background blended with all my years of hunting condition shooting for my personal ultimate length bow.
