I spent this morning stump huntin. At 8:30 when I left the house it was 27 degrees and there was a very light dusting of snow on the ground. This has been an unusual Winter. It's January 10 and there is no snow to speak of. Not so good for rabbit hunting but when it comes to stumpin it's perfect. I made my way down into my favorite hunting area and started looking for targets of opportunity. I was being a little pickey about what I wanted to shoot and I was looking for sheds as well so I hadn't taken any shots. While scanning the area in front of me for targets some movement caught my eye. A deer! Then another one and another until I could see six of them. Nice to see they survived the hunting season. Later on I caught a glimps of a Fisher Cat as he was headed for a less crowded area. I did put a hurtin on quite a few stumps today. I do enjoy stumpin. It's free (unless you bust an arrow). It helps maintain your woods skills and it's just plain fun!

Tools used today. The haversack I purchased in an Army/Navy store for about $4. Secured a plastic tube to one side that holds 4 arrows nicely.

The point is a simple blunt with a wing nut. Haven't buried one yet.
