Back from Hunt
« on: July 20, 2007, 11:14:00 AM »
Well I got back home yesterday mid afternoon from our Hunt over on the coast near Montery CA.
Sad to say we never connected with a Buck, Butt everyday we saw Doe's, and we have a special either sex tag to use in Oct. so "We'll Be Back"
This area Is beautiful and prety rugged, theres places that if you step off the road you wont stop for hundreds of yards almost straight down....
And talk about Oak trees, this place has Oak trees that should be in Harry Potter land, these things are as Old as Bernie, and they scary looking in a beautifull way, they definetly have character of there own....
Animals we got to see, A Mountain Lion as close as 40 yds, Bobcat, Tree Grizz, Ground Grizz, Quail, Cotton tails, Snakes up close, Horney toads....Lizards....
I will admit that I'm one tired guy, we went on Morning and evening Hunts, we also went on mid morning and mid afternoon Jaunts....
If I have a muscel that dose'nt hurt I'll be surprised....
I shared the Camp with George and Jerry from Nevada....
A good time was had buy all, A buck would of made it better, Butt overall the Hunt was great.
    Well get them in Oct.

Mike, did you see any hog sign around?  Monterrey County is ground zero for hogs in CA....

There was one area that was supposed to have Pig sign, we started to go there but the trail was coverd with Poison Oak, so we decided we did'nt want to go there...
We where about 20 miles East of Carmel....

Those hogs are smart, they LOVE to bed in poison oak. They're so abundant that they have hog crossing warning signs on the roads in Carmel!  Too bad they're so squeamish about hunting up there.

I was over in Napa this weekend and it was a lot cooler than here, but still hot for hunting.  Bet you went through some water!  Those oak covered hills are beautiful.  My tag starts on Aug 1. Bound to be hot and the potential for meat loss is always there.
