I've had three.

They are good bows. Pretty fast, stable, smooth drawing.

Often are very pretty in terms of wood combinations.

I have had a couple of bows from RER. Still have one, great bows and nice folks to deal with!

I had one and it was a great bow.  There were no faults with fit or finish and of course Kevin, Sue and family are simply some of the best folks you'll ever get to deal with.  But ... I've also had two of the original takedowns and those are the ones that I regret letting go.  I shot them as well as anything I've ever handled and I didn't shoot the XR quite as well. Maybe it was the extra mass in the riser that I benefitted from but either way, the XR is a great bow.  As a bonus, I've yet to see an ugly one either

Steve:

I have had my new XR for one week.

It's absolutely gorgeous.  Phone me --- 414-750-0918 --- with your email address and I'll send you photos.

For the past several years, I've been shooting a DAS Dalaa 17" riser with Trad Tech BF Extreme limbs (carbon and foam).  I have shot that bow in well over one hundred 3D shoots and have shot it very well.

After one week, I'm shooting the XR arrow-for-arrow just as well out to 23 or 24 yards. Amazing!  It's a tribute to the XR that I've been able to adjust so quickly.

While the XR is plenty fast, it can't compare with the BF Extremes for speed; virtually nothing does.  It will take me a few weeks to get my 25-32 yards squared away.  After a few practice sessions, my brain will make the adjustment.

The XR is extremely quiet as are all static recurves.  It's very smooth on both draw and release.

I couldn't be happier.  Furthermore, Kevin and Sue TerMaat are special people.  You'd find them a joy to work with.

I have a 60" 52#@28 XR.  Over the years I've had a lot of different recurves and longbows.  The XR is the quietest recurve I've owned.  I shoot it better than any bow I've owned.  It is as fast or faster than most, but this is a little hard to compare because of different draw wieghts and arrows wieghts of other setups I've had.  The only grip I like better is a Griffins.

I can tell you that RER got it right with this bow.

I don't think you should have any second thoughts about buying an XR.

You can go to RER's web site and look at wood combo options and other details.  They have a lot of pictures.

You can't get more bow for the money IMO...
It is a static tip curve:

I draw mine (62" AMO) close to 32" and it is really smooth:

I harvested some gamethat are supposed to jump the string with noisy bow:

I LIKE HER ! lol

Laurent .. great pictures. Really liked the picture at full draw .. you can see how the static tips are working. I have a 30" draw and plan to get a 62" .. sounds like a 60 may work fine.

Steve,
Ask Kevin, but i am pretty sure  60" XR could be fine for 30" draw.
You also can look to the new design: the Vital (on right) . It is a 18" riser  and a little thicker instead of 15" on the XR, giving more weight.

Steve:

I sent 5 photos.  If they are unviewable, for some reason, let me know and we'll try to figure it out so I can re-send.

I was going to suggest you stop in at Kevin and Sue's place outside Merrill, but you beat me to it.  Good plan.  If the weather permits, you'll be able to shoot several bows at his outside range.  You'll also be able to look at finished bows, limb veneers, and slabs of wood that will become risers.

Have fun.  (And, yeah, take your checkbook.  You'll be placing an order.)

I have a 60" Vital.  It is one great bow.  pulls easy, super quick and the quietest recurve I've shot.  My old chek mate collects dust now.
If your shooting stinks, work with a Form master.  It'll bring back your A game.
