Please show off your self bows!
« on: January 16, 2012, 06:52:00 PM »
I never get sick of looking at self bows. Would you be so kind as to show your work of art  :archer2:   here? Thanks!

This is a 53" sinew backed osage I recently finished...

...and these are both osage selfbows. One I made for my first elk hunt in '06 is 60" with flipped tips. I gave it to my host after the hunt. The other is 60" osage static recurve with choke cherry backing I took to Colorado this past Sept...

This is an Eastern Woodland style locust bow I made for last years PA bow trade. It went to a Viet Nam vet so it is decorated to replicate a Viet Nam Battle ribbon...

...and at full draw...

This is an Eastern Woodland set I made and donated to Twin Oaks Bowhunters at last years Tenn Classic...

This is the bow I made for last years TG bow trade bow. It is 60" elm static recurve selfbow...

I  made and trades these two bows for a pair of railroad spike tomahawks...

...and "Flip Flop" the bow I made and sent Joe Weed for the 2009 TG Bow Trade...

I'm drooling!!!! Great bows guys keep them coming. I'll get a pic of the one I have made by Stringstretcher when I get home.

Pat what's the backing on the one that looks like Giraff skin 3rd pic in your last post? Looks beautiful.

Close up of "Flip Flop"...

This bow is a replica of a bow Jay Massey made called the "Medicine Bow". It is sinew backed hickory with a painted rawhide covering...

...and finally "Shere Kahn" an osage selfbow I made a few years ago. This bow had over 1000 shots through her but then one night Evan Williams and myself were horseing around and this bow became a takedown. Now if I can only remember how to put it back together. d;^)...

Matt, it is animal print tissue paper, just like Shere Kahn. Comes in leopard, tiger, zebra, giraffe and a few others.
