I love your self bow Kip!

Great job!

I know you had to want it badly as there's not much hedge in your area.

I can't think of any wood I'd pick over Osage for a self bow.

They are just tougher than woodpeckers lips.

Congratulations!

God bless,Mudd

There's a part of me that misses making them.

I may make one for myself since of all of them I've built over the years I never kept one of my own for myself.

I picked up a bamboo backed IPE bow blank that I have plans to work on at Dave's in a couple of weeks.

I just hope it's like riding a bicycle....lol

Mudd, I've got the tips sanded down today and I"m glueing on a few pieces of Tigerwood today.  You can rough it out and go to town.

Thank you Dave!

Woo Hoo! I can't begin to tell you how nervous I am about putting my hand to that awesome bow blank.

It will be a crying shame to ruin it.

Hopefully I will round up an Osage stave this year as well.

At least Osage is a wood I have a memory of working on, unlike IPE.

God bless,Mudd

Nice Troy.... the top one would be my pick of your litter with number 2 being my 2nd choice.

Good work!

God bless, Mudd

PS: Have you ever made one like #2 with brush nocks?

Thanks Mudd,

The top bow is my hickory backed lemonwood ELB. Second down is my hickory static tipped recurve. Third down is my slightly snakeie osage.
Fourth down is Hop Hornbean.
Fifth down is my personal choice. it is sinew backed osage with banded water snake skins and a takedown sleeve.
Sixth down is my wifes multi layer
seventh down is my daughters osage
eighth is my reflex tipped hickory.

All are good shooters. They do their part, but I often fail on my end.

Wow Troy !!!  Now that's a collection of sweet shooters  :)

Just finished my Tradgang trade bow 2012..

It's another Yew with flipped tips, braided hemp grip and an antler rest..

Coaster,

That is just a sampling of what I have made. I thought I had lost some of my bows in the two moves my wife and I have made in the past six years.

Acouple of weeks ago I found two bow tubes that I thought were empty. Guess what was inside?

Here is what the abobe bows look like on the backs with the exception of the ELB. The string follow forced me to show it's belly.

BTW, forgot to say the bottom hickory bow is rawhide backed.

Troy that find must have made your day!

I am super impressed with your handy work.

God bless,Mudd

PS: I know it won't happen but I would love to stumble onto one of those around the house or shop that I made all those years ago.

Sorry, hit the wrong button.

What I started to say is, I was out in the garage looking for a paint roller and moved afew things around to be able to get to a cabinet that was covered up. When I grabbed the bow tubes I noticed they were heavy. The fealing I had at that time was unreal. It was like the little boy that saw his dog heading back down the driveway after been gone for several days.  :bigsmyl:

Darin,

That is a great looking bow, I want to learn but don't have someone near by to teach me, and where to get the wood.
Everything I have and have become is due to the Lord and his great mercy.
