When I read this post I thought you were asking about general pioneers, as in early settlers. Of course that wouldn't have been a Trad Gang-legal post so I was being a bit dumb. I'd love to have them (original setlers)describe the old-growth eastern forests.

However, I realize now you are looking for archery pioneer queries.  I'd like to ask Mr. Bear what the new "Bear" archery should do to revitalize recurve and longbow archery.

I would have asked Mr. Bear if I could have shadowed him for just a year in all walks of his life; hunting and manufacturing.

To have been there in the early days of Bear Archery and in his prime of hunting adventures would have been unbelievable. He roughed it compared to todays hunts and modes of transportation. A horse, pack mule, and two or three other hunters. It would have been very nice.

I'd ask Howard Hill what the heck he was thinking shooting stuff off people's heads.

I know the firearms trick shooters of the same time period did the same sort of thing, but at what point in time did we wise up and realize that probabably isn't a good idea.  You sure wouldn't see Byron doing that in a show today.

Hahaha!!!

Chuck I bet you also didn't know that I got married once in France.(A very long time ago) 2nd marriage.

But I have to confess, I did not speak french then nor do I today but somehow I always manage to communicate.

I don't speak German either but I fared pretty well when there also.

Vietnam, well that's a different story altogether and I guess I made out there as well since I made it back alive..lol (London wasn't as bad but not far behind with the bombings that were occurring)

God bless,Mudd

PS: Sorry but "drift" got me.. someone please bring this one back on track.

How did they ever kill anything without EFOC and single bevel heads?     :biglaugh:

On a more serious note, I'm rereading Fred Bear's Field Notes.  What a time that was for bow hunting and what adventures he had.

Assuming I could communicate with them, and that they wouldn't simply kill me on sight, the pioneers I would choose to learn from were the Mongols. Some of the most impressive archers and horsemen who ever graced the planet.
