Curt, That brings back so many memories. We're about the same age(46) but my kids are a little older, Chelsea's 18 and Dylan's 17. We used to do the same kind of stuff. Their favorite was launching flu-flus in the long hayfield at my moms. We still have fun together going to 3D shoots and camping but the older they get the less time they have with college, jobs and sports so grab all of these special times you can while you can. Rob

When Chelsea was about 6 the three of us spent the day in the woods shooting bows, catching frogs and having fun. We went back to Grandmas where Chels crunched her neck in a recliner and was screaming at the top of her lungs. I hurried and picked my wife up at work where she'd just had a milkshake explode all over her and no extra clothes and we went to the hospital. After getting her looked at and finding that she was fine I just started laughing, I had on head to toe camo and rubber boots and was covered in mud top to bottom, my wife was wearing a milkshake and Chelsea was wearing a shirt of my moms because her clothes were wet and it was about ten sizes to big. But the funniest part was that we were driving Grandma's new Lincoln Towncar! You never forget stuff like that.

I love the pics Curt.Days like that are a great treat, those kids will grow up faster than you want to admit.

I did a similar outing with my boys a couple springs ago, combining stump shooting, shed huntin, some bushcraft skills practice in shelter, fire and navigation.

we built a debris shelter, gathered wood, worked on firestarting with a fire striker, cooked our meal and spent the night. I told my boys then, everyone gets lost sooner or later, and sometimes its more than an inconvenience. They know how to make a shelter, a fire and keep from getting in trouble.

we're gonna be doing another one here soon, some winter camping,rabbit/squirrel huntin, stumpin, etc. Gonna play around with making some snares, and if it works out start building a wigwam that will convert to a hunting blind in the fall.

Your kids smiles say it all, tehey have a great Dad who gets them outdoors where the real learning takes place.

Lookin at your pics reminded me of when my boys were that young, seems like just yesterday. Love the smiles.
...stood alone on a montaintop, starin out at a great divide, I could go east, I could go West, it was all up to me to decide, just then I saw a young hawk flyin and my soul began to rise......

Great stuff, Curt.  Wyatt's new Black Rhino came in today. Cut some arrows down to size and getting ready to fletch them up for him. Can't wait to get him out there.

Simply wonderful, Curt.  You're a good dad.  Fun to see the shades of a younger Cade in those photos of Mae-Mae.

The pic where Cade has his hand on Mae Maes shoulder is one of the best shown here.
Im sure he will be a caring and helping big brother, just as you are a caring dad!
My hats off to you sir, thats the way to raise children.

Thans for sharing.

P.S. These pics brouht back so many memories of me as a little boy going out to the woods each Sunday with my parents and big brother....
