54" Arroyo has arrived in the Bayou State !!
« on: July 20, 2007, 06:18:00 PM »
I just got it in the mail yesterday, had to work late so all I had time to do was string it up, set the brace height to 7 5/8 and nock height to 5/8 and hurry outside to sling a few. First thing I noticed about the bow was just how light it is, granted I've been shooting a BW PSA-X which is on the complete opposite end of the weight spectrum. I shot about 2 dozen shots , two arras at a time while getting the feal for it. I was shooting high at first but dead on. The bow was quiet for not having ANY kind of silencers on it, and can I tell you, it flat smokes an arra. The specs are 54" 51@28, high wrist, brown glass. When I spoke to Kevin I told him I wanted just the basic bow, nothing fancy at all since it'll just end up getting hunted with. Kevin, by the way, was really easy to work with and told me he had one that he thought would meet my specs just about ready, TWO WEEKS LATER and here it is. I draw 26.5 so I figure I'm around 45 or 46 pounds. My last two shots were touching each other at 15yds yesterday evening so I had to take a pic to go with the bow pics, and I have shot probably 3 dozen shots this evening that  were all tightly grouped. I noticed that I only have to cant the bow just a little to be dead on left to right, everything lines up very naturally, it's just easy to shoot. The bonus...the price, and the wait time

I have read so many positive posts, and talked to several different ganger's that I decided that I had to at least try one out, I'm really glad I did, They do live up to the hype. My thanks to all who answered my questions, especially LeRoy Carlson, aka Golden Hawk, who has really helped me with strings, arras, and most importantly, the the willingness to help a fellow archer enjoy the sport more. I hope the pics come out, my first time trying without any help!!

BTW, This pic is NOT typical of my shooting skills, but I wish it was !!

No, Mr. Mark, that was my father, I'm Darrell Jr. I had to work the weekend of The Real Thing. I did shoot at Mr. Warren Womack's "Redneck Bottle Shoot" last weekend though and met several other Tradgangers...we had a great time!!

David,
Thanks a bunch, but I'm normally not near THAT good. My father had rode over to visit, and he shot it very well also. You know I got something else I'm expecting.....but haven't heard anything lately. PM me if you get a heads up.

Nice bow bud...I've heard nothing but good about them RER's....

For what it's worth, with the proper set-up your cant shouldn't matter.....your LT/RT should be right on from parallel to the ground to straight up with proper alignment....check out some of Terry's shooting clips  in the "members videos"

Thanks for all the kind remarks, I appreciate all the help and instruction given by all the members here, not just to me, but to everyone who asks for some advice. Our learning curves are shortened allowing us to shoot better, quicker thus allowing us greater enjoyment of this sport.

"Basic bow nothin' fancy " My kind of bow right there! Be careful where you lay it down. Kevin and Sue are top notch.I enjoy the hec out of my Vortex!Looks like that basic bow shoots pretty darn good too. Good hunting!
