I had good luck with Goo Gone Extreme in the spray can. Cleaned up an early 70's Bear Kodiak Hunter that some dummy had spray painted the limbs on. Didn't harm the finish of the bow a bit.

Denatured alcohol and OOOO steel wool. I've done some with this method with great results. After you use the alcohol, use aome good carnuba wax. Shines right up!!

If it is cheap spray paint, lighter fluid will wash it right off.

If your Kodiak is from the fifties or earlier I would use extreme caution before using any type of product to remove paint. I used a little goo gone on a 54 Kodiak once to remove a minuscule amount of tape residue and it took the finish right off in that spot. Finger nail polish remover on a rag would be a good start on later made bows from the early sixties on. What ever you use try a small spot first to make sure it doesn't damage the finish underneath. For later made bows and hard to remove paint I have had mostly good results with using a Min Wax product called Antique Furniture Restorer. If you do a search on the History and Collecting forums you can probably bring up some old threads on the subject of removing paint.

I've had great success with Formby's Refinisher and a Scotch Brite pad.

WD-40 works well and I have not had problems with the finishes. Can't say that for the denatured alcohol. Pealed the finish right off a browning bow I was cleaning up.

Not an expert on this but the paint you are removing from that bow might have been done at the Bear factory, and wouldn't affect the value of the bow. If that's the reason for removing it , if not there are some good methods in this thread.

I've had good luck with fingernail polish remover and a rag also as Jack mentioned above.
