Carbon ? for a recurve

Ok guys I have a recurve my brother lent me to use due to a ruptured disc in my back(awaiting surgery) so I may hunt a day or to before the knife. I shoot wood and 70# longbows which I cant am scared to pull back, this recurve is 45#@28 and I draw 30". I have a dozen GT 55/75 full length What head weight do you think would work.All my heads are glue ons and I do have a handfull of 125's. What do you carbon guys think would be best,I want the least amount of tinkering so I may get out befor the season ends. Thanks Tim

For me at least,about 200 grs.

I agree with JimB. At least 200 grains and if you can do a bit more it won't hurt.

With the 30 inch draw I think 200 will give a weak spine. Have you ever used Stu's calculator. Might want to give it a try. Has worked for me.

I agree about getting your point weight above 200 grs. I shoot 5575's out of my #55 r/d longbow, with a 270 gr. point. On a #45 bow, you might have spine issues with 5575's without a fair bit of FOC.

The shelf is 1/8 short of center.With my 30 "drawwouldnt that increas the bow weight 10#(5# per inch)?

On average, every additional inch of draw will increase the poundage by 2-3 lbs.

With a 30 inch draw you probably are pulling right around 51#s on that bow.Unless it stacks bad at 29-30 inches.

Do the arrows have regular aluminum inserts or 50-100 grain brass inserts.

I am not sure how long a fulllength GT is?

I think 200 grains up front total weight including the insert or a bit more will get you in the ballpark.

Aluminum insert and 175-200 grain head.

I shot 200 grains up front on 55-75 GT.Fifty grain brass insert and 150 grain head (Magnus Stinger 2 blade).The arrows were cut to 31.I draw 30 inches and my bows are around 50#s at 30".
