I'm Down With the Brown....ING! (Full Draw Pic PG 4)
« on: January 21, 2012, 03:02:00 PM »
Well, after taxes were figured, the boss vetoed me getting a brand new bow. But, I was able to come up with this classic gem for a few bucks!

62", 45# @ 28", Browning Explorer II. She has some light cosmetic issues. As does most things this old

well Sir, You just got one of my favorite bows. The cosmetic problems make it even more appealing to me. It would let me spend some time with her , sanding refinishing and making her into one of my best friends. I do love those bows.

God bless you, Steve

Yeah, I agree. That's a beautiful bow and a perfect candidate for a home refinish project. Looks like you shoot it well too. Congrats.

Thanks everyone! This bow sure has a glare to the finish though. I think I will need to put some 3R's limb socks on it before using it to hunt with. I've not figured out a bow quiver yet but, Charlie(Stumpkiller) recommended the GN adjustable strap on. Sure wish I could find something original to put on it.

You picked up a very nice looking bow.  I don't have one but hope to someday.  You could have a fun winter project refinishing it if you wanted to.

Great looking bow.  I shot a Browning compound for 20 years that looked almost identical, except it had wheels on the ends.    :bigsmyl:   Good luck with it.

Now that's some good shooting, and those old bows are a lot of fun to shoot. Good luck with it.

Love the old Brownings.  You mentioned getting 3Rivers limb socks... I tried a set on my Pearson Colt (also a batwing bow, could pass as a twin) and couldn't get them to fit over the riser flares.

I wouldn't put on limb socks. You can buy Leafy Wear tape in ASAT. It's called Vanish Pro 3D Tape.
Available at ASAT Outdoors, LLC

What a great bow. A 62" Browning would be a nice one to find. Good luck with it.
