Bow has been dubbed "Jorja" by the boss. When I asked her why, she said, "It just looks like a Jorja." This coming from someone who has never called my bows by anything and hasn't showed no interest in doing such a thing. I spelled it like the state but, she corrected me on that also.

So, I figure I had better not change it and incur her raised eye and, perhaps this thing will have Mojo!

Those old Brownings are sweet bows, and that one is a beauty. Well Done!

You can just refinish that old girl and use a satin finish on it.....won't need any tape or limb covers........she'll look good to!!

Ron, I agree but, I won't be able to have it refinished 'til probably next year. I was thinking I could just wax the limbs and not wipe it off. That should take away a lot of the glare.

You could do it yourself......jump right in there and go for it....don't be afraid....I know you can do it. Hunting season is a long way off!!

Buck up buttercup!

The bowyers forum will help.  It's super easy and will bring you and Georgia closer (sorry, I am born and raised in Georgia and it is sacreligious to spell it any other way).  Ray Charles sang it best...

Good luck with the new slinger, y'all seem to like each other by the looks of that group...

Zeke, part of this issue is not having a work shop or space to do it in.

Sorry, 'bout the name spelling but, the boss is the boss, and I was lucky to get this bow!

I pull the ole girl to 29" and she is a real smoothy. The grip is a little bulkier than I'm used to but, the more I'm shooting it, the more I'm getting used to it.

I'm just busting your chops.  Those are great bows.  My first bow kill was a browning compound when I was 12 so they have good mojo!

No offense taken my friend. I sure hope this one is full of mojo. I'm hoping to get a chance to go after an Eastern Oregon mule deer this year.

Outstanding!  The recurve Limbskins won't fit over the mass "humps" on the riser ends (I know this for sure as I tried).  Instead I used temporary camo tape on mine.

Great bow.  THE ADMIRAL has instructions to put my Explorer in the coffin beside me before lighting the pyre and jumping on top.  I'm using my Cobra II currently and hoping to take a deer next Fall, but my Explorer still shoots better in my hands.  I've never owned or shot a bow I consider it's superior.

It is an unusual grip.  VERY high.  I like it, but a longbow shooter would be in a different world with it.

Thanks Charlie! I hope you do as well with the Cobra as you did with the Explorer! Does the camo tape leave a residue?

Brownings are great bows. Don't worry about refinishing it. It will shoot just as nice and you won't worry about getting a few dings and dents in it. Besides it has character.

My rule of thumb with any bow or old gun I buy is do nothing to it except clean it for 3 months and you'd be surprised how the dents and dings grow on you and you loose the desire to refinish it and keep them original.

I have not been disappointed with any of the 4 old brownings I have owned.

I have one now that I wish didn't shoot so good because I need to get rid of a few   :banghead:
