Man!!! What a Bow!!!
« on: January 22, 2012, 01:05:00 AM »
Recently traded with a fellow tradganger for an Abbott longbow. I cannot say enough about this bow.

Curious as to why they are seldom heard about. You dont often see them in the classified section and now I know why.

Steve Abbott makes one heck of a bow. Guys this is one to take into consideration " I mean it".

I've got two. They're the last bows I'll ever sell off.

I had picked an Abbott up as part a trade last year.  Finally got around to refinishing it and put the last coar of finish on this week.  I have to agree - very nice shooting bow, and beautifully made!

I have one and I love it. The only bow I shoot now. Its 66" 43#@28" bamboo & yew limbs. The best looking yew I had ever seen. Man is it smooth. Steve does make a great longbow. Saving for another one.

Sorry guys have not had a chance to get any pics of the bow yet " To busy having fun with it".

I thought I read somewhere that he harvests his own Yew. I bet his Yew is great. My Bow has a Cocobolo riser with tiger maple limbs and Cocobolo overlays 66" 46#@28. I pull it to 29".

This Bow has pretty long fade outs compared to other R/D bows I have shot. I wonder if that is what increases the point ability of this bow.

I had one for a while. Shot it better than any other longbow I have had. I let it go because it was a bit too heavy for me.
Shot great and the workmanship was top notch, Better than some of the more popular makes.

I have shot Hill type bows for a long time, but had an opportunity to shoot an Abbott about a year ago. I ordered one the next week and though I still shoot my Hills, the abbott is the go to bow during season.

Hi Cliff, remember I told you that Abbott was the most accurate bow I owned? Glad to see you two getting along so well. If it wasn't for my arthritic wrist and elbow you wouldn't own that bow today. I still have pics of it that I look at once in a while. Looks as good as it shoots.

Would you mind if I post the pics here?

Ron that would be great if you could post some pics. I put a 10 strand string on and she sure does like it.

Ron "Bladepeek" it's guys like you that make tradgang a great place. Thanks again for a great bow and hope your getting along well with your new Lost Creek.

Hey Cliff, here'ya go.  I've often seen bows described as "shoots where you look" and thought, well sure; they all do if they're not all twisted up. This is the first bow I've shot that really did. I just looked at a spot and I'd hit it. Just couldn't hack the low wrist. Glad you're bonding so well. And getting rid of that big, heavy string probably helped a lot.

Yeah Ron That skinny string did make quite a bit of difference. Working on saving up some $ for a new Abbott, but will not be letting this one go!!!
