A perfect cold morning
« on: January 22, 2012, 06:04:00 PM »
We finally got some snow on the ground and the air was cold, very cold. I drove out to my friend Deadsmple's place and readied myself for a morning sit. While gearing up, I heard some song dogs over in the direction of our planned hunt area. A smile grew across my face. On the hike in we cut some fresh tracks of deer and coyote. The coyotes had been through just before us and pushed some deer off their beds.

I wiggled my way down through the laurels and found a place to set up for the morning. A couple shots of my shooting zones.

After a couple hours of Pileated woodpeckers and squirrels messing around, i was getting a little cold. I guess Vaughn was feeling it too since he was coming over the ridge as I was getting up from my spot. Time for some walking around and stumping.

We got into taking a lot of long shots. It was a fun time. I lost one arrow in the snow. Hope to find it later in the week when the snow is gone. Tomorrow is supposed to be 50!!! Well, a few more photos to show our great morning.

Very nice.Your woods are beautiful. I had a similar outing today. The weather was fine but 3 yotes and a fox beat us to every hedgerow and we didnt move a single rabbit.

Is that the game lands by running valley road?

I live in Effort but I used to live in Reeders and hunted that quite a bit before I got into trad, if its where I'm thinking.

Do you know of any local trad shoots around here?
