Any outfitter suggestions for trad
« on: January 25, 2012, 08:58:00 AM »
I am looking to book my first outfitted hunt in 2014. being I have never hunted with an outfitter I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of outfitters who "caters" to Traditional archers. I am looking to spend up to 3000.00 dollars and will hunt any big game. It is more of a reunion of my cousin and me hunting. But, we were wanting to try a outfitted hunt.

I will second Hunters Point Guide Service in Maine.  Won't cost as much as you stipulated and he is a dyed-in-the-wool longbow shooter/hunter himself.  Owner is Eldon Jandreau--past New England longbow champion.  I have hunted black bears with Eldon--top notch operation and a great guy to deal with.

I also have to agree with Ranger, Dave, and Bill .
Hunters Point Guide Service with Eldon, it is a hunt hard to beat.

Black Brook Cove Guide Service, Maine.  It's in the Rangley District just across the border from New Hampshire.  Great hunt for bear you won't regret.

Another vote for a bear hunt with Hunter's Point Guide Service with Eldon Jandreau in Portage Maine.  Just talked to him yesterday and I'm sure he'd love to have you guys.

Tony And Lynn at Squapan mountain outfitters in Maine.  Tony is a trad guy and host the Langer boys and a lot of the Black widow guys.  I was with him this fall for moose and i know a lot of the fellas on here have hunted bear with him.  Joe

dito.  Ted guides spring bear hunts, but I believe the outfit also does elk and deer in the fall.

Travis...Trust me on this...Call Dave at Spearhead Ranch, Douglas Wyoming and trad hunt antelope. Tell him "Whitie" sent you. It is superb. A family set up with no drunks or trashbags and just excellent. Though they are not specific trad hunters, I took my Black Widow there last August for a 5 day pronghorn hunt...killed a beautiful goat in 3 hours the first day at 7 yards. I was the only trad hunter in camp and we scored 100%. Spent the rest of the week relaxing, visiting, hanging out etc. Tell him you want the blind that is the home to mouse#9 and mouse#29. You & your cousin would have a great time.I was going to go back again this year but they were booked up when I called...My dumbness!!! Trust me...You'll love it!!!!!  Whitie

I second the recommendation on Weitas Creek Outfitters.  Gary and Sue Haight are some of the finest people you'll ever meet.  That area of Idaho has 60% color phase black bears and there's a reason the state of Idaho has a two bear limit in the Unit that Weitas Creek Outfitters operates.

Our group is looking forward to our annual Memorial Day bear hunt with WCO and Ted Fry. This will be our third year hunting with Weitas Creek and second year hunting with Ted.  Ted Fry and Gary Haight is the traditional bear hunters dream team.

Ted, looking forward to seeing you guys next month.

Tony and Lynn at Squapan Mountain  For bear or moose in the east, Fred at Full draw in the west. Both offer great service comfortable lodging and good food. They really work their buts off for you. Both are traditional shooter so they know what you need.
