Footing size for heritage 90's and 150's

All I shoot are Heritage 150's and 2216's fit perfect.Got my son shooting the '90's and 2117's fit really well.

Do you guys use epoxy to bed the footing? That was an  impressive video.

I use 2216s with epoxy and knurl them before it dries with an old Scheib knurler. Beware: Set the knurler wrong and it'll cut your shaft in two.  Set it right, and it's nearly indestructable.  A couple of years ago at the Moses Lake "Rock" shoot, I put several straight into those basalt rock faces and it bent the steel broadhead adapters but the shaft didn't split(of course, that was intentional and all in the interest of "research"!)  I have had a failure on a live animal due to screw-in aluminum adapters and carbon shafts.  I will never again hunt with an aluminum adapter or a carbon shaft w/o an "outsert" of 2216!

I just footed some GT 5575 Trads a few days ago, they use the 2216 also.  I used Loc-Tite General purpose epoxy, 3200 psi, 24 hour cure. It comes in the two part syringe. Have used this on my stumpin' carbons with excellent results. I rough the carbon arrow lightly with some 120 grit sandpaper and clean the shaft and the inside of the aluminum foot with acetone before I epoxy.

I use golf shaft epoxy to put footing on carbons. It is a one way trip, no reheating to remove them. I glued the footings on first then put in the inserts.
My shooting buddies moaned when they pulled my arrows as the footing catches in the target. I then chucked the arrows up in my hand drill and filed the back of the footing to almost the shaft. I use a 250gr. field pt. when I do this. now I get no moaning.

What do you think you are gaining in weight up front? about 30 grains?

A 2216 is 12 grains per inch + maybe a few grains of epoxy?

M60gunner....I use a RCBS chamfer/deburring tool (ammo reloading) to smooth and taper the ends of the aluminum footing. It definitely helps when pulling an arrow from my bag targets, can't tell any real difference though when pulling an arrow out of a stump.

2117 at 2 inches  on my reloading scale was 25grns 2216 should be close to that. I use iron insert as glue(you can heat to remove ) but might try Big Jims hot melt glue

FWIW, I repaired a friend's Heritage 90 shaft at the nock with a .3" sleeve of an Eclipse 2012 aluminum shaft. The Eclipse series seems to run bigger than published ID.  It was a .003 interference fit, but seemed to work out OK for the short sleeve. You'd probably never get a 2" footer of it on the Trad 90, and with production variation you might never get it on a different production batch at all.

I had a 2117 XX75 Camo Hunter in my box, but it measured .299 ID (.005 bigger than spec) and was an awfully loose fit for a short length.

Kirk, I have been using Gorilla glue with great results.

I used 2013 on Heritage 90s. I sanded the shaft to get a snug fit.
