My wife and i were married in Anchorage in the summer of 84'. We were up there for a year prior and experienced minus 35 to -42 for a few weeks. i was working outside doing wood framing in that stuff too.
I remember how excited i got when the temp soared to 10 above in late February. I had to dig a hole in the snow to change a clutch in my van, and i was working in just a sweat shirt it felt so warm.
We had looked forward so much to flying back into Portland for some 50 degrees and rain for a couple weeks at Christmas. When we got here it was 19 degrees and the wind was blowing 30 mph. we had an ice storm that lasted the whole time we were home too.
